Electron microscopy
The Armand Frappier Institute offers its transmission electron microscopy service to all universities and companies involved in the fields of health, research or biotechnology.
We have more than 30 years of experience in electron microscopy and we are confident that we can answer the specific needs of your company in the various fields of biology (zoology, botany, microbiology).
A partial list of our services is as follows:
- Research and typing of any virus.
- Research and typing (positive or negative Gram) of any bacteria.
- Research and typing of biological contaminants (e.g. mycoplasma) in clinical samples or tissues cultures.
- Immune electron microscopy (with or without colloidal gold labeling) of liquid (negative staining) or solid (ultrathin sections of pre- or post-embedded material) samples.
- Quality control of virus through density gradient techniques.
- Cell morphology (ultrathin section).
- Quantitation of viruses (e.g. Retrovirus) through the use of latex beads (known size and concentration ) coupled with negative staining.
- Quality control of biological wastes prior to disposal.
- Research of Retrovirus in cells, including typing and cell count of infected tissue (ultra-thin section).
- Black and white photography.
Any request which employs electron microscopy as a tool will also be entertained. In addition, we are available for contract work and personnel training.
